Guide to healthy skin during summer

Summer is the season that brings much joy—sun, beach, sea, and relaxation. However, while we enjoy these benefits, our skin undergoes serious challenges. High temperatures, increased UV radiation, and spending time in air-conditioned spaces can lead to skin dehydration and the appearance of hyperpigmentation.

These problems are not only aesthetic in nature; they can damage the structure and health of the skin in the long term. In this blog post, we will explore how you can prevent summer dehydration and hyperpigmentation and ensure that your skin remains healthy and radiant throughout the entire season.

What causes skin dehydration during the summer?

Skin dehydration occurs when the skin loses more water than it can retain. This often happens in summer, when high temperatures and intense solar radiation are combined with increased sweating. Air-conditioned spaces also contribute to skin dryness, as air conditioners dry out the air, and thus our skin.

Symptoms of dehydrated skin include:

• a feeling of tightness,

• flaking, itching,

• the appearance of fine lines that are a result of lack of moisture,

• dehydrated skin can also become more sensitive and prone to inflammation.

How do UV rays cause hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a skin condition characterized by dark spots that occur due to the excessive production of melanin, the pigment that protects the skin from UV radiation.

Long-term sun exposure, especially without adequate protection, stimulates melanin production, which can lead to the appearance of dark spots or the worsening of existing ones.

Besides the sun, hyperpigmentation can also be caused by inflammation (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation), hormonal changes (melasma), and certain medications. Therefore, it is important to use products that protect the skin from UV radiation and simultaneously reduce existing spots.

How to prevent skin dehydration and hyperpigmentation?

1. Hydration from the Inside and Out

To keep the skin hydrated, it is important to consume enough fluids, but also to use products that will retain moisture in the skin. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides are key to maintaining hydration. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and helps the skin retain moisture, while ceramides restore the skin barrier, preventing water loss.

2. Protecting Collagen from UV Rays

Sun protection factor (SPF) should be an indispensable part of your daily routine. Choose broad-spectrum creams that protect against UVA and UVB rays, with at least SPF 30. In addition to sunscreens, products containing antioxidants, like vitamin C, help neutralize free radicals caused by UV radiation, additionally protecting the skin.

3. Skincare with Active Ingredients

Products containing vitamin C and niacinamide can significantly reduce the visibility of hyperpigmentation. Vitamin C inhibits tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production, while niacinamide reduces the transfer of melanosomes (pigment cells) to the skin's surface.

4. Regular Exfoliation

Exfoliation helps in removing dead cells from the skin's surface, which allows better absorption of hydrating ingredients and active substances against hyperpigmentation. Choose gentle chemical peels with alpha-hydroxy acids (AHA) that will not irritate the skin, but will effectively renew it.

Recommended products

To keep your skin protected and nourished, and to avoid dehydration and the appearance of hyperpigmentation, we recommend using our Summer Hydrate & Glow set.

This set contains three key products:

• Vitamin C Serum: Protects skin from UV damage, reduces hyperpigmentation, and stimulates collagen synthesis. Contains 15% vitamin C (AG+SAP), vitamin E, ferulic acid, hyaluronic acid, and licorice extract.

• Aqua Perfector Fluid: Provides deep hydration and restores the skin barrier. Formulated with hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, natural moisturizing factors, niacinamide, cucumber extract, and aloe vera.

• Glow Up serum exfoliant: Provides instant glow and smoothes wrinkles, reduces the visibility of hyperpigmentation, evens out compromised skin structure, and reduces the appearance of acne, blackheads, and comedones. Contains an exfoliant based on 4% glycolic acid (AHA), 1% mandelic acid, 1% PHA gluconolactone, and 0.2% salicylic acid (BHA).

This combination of ingredients makes these serums and creams extremely effective for the protection, hydration, and renewal of skin during the summer.
